"Gastro Gang" Capture Of The Spanish Police Targeting The World's Best Restaurants

They could go down in history as the band of gastro, a group whose favorite target of thieves in Spain involving more than three Michelin-starred restaurants.

But on Wednesday, police announced they had captured the thieves, finally, that includes restaurants of theft by leaders Juan Mari Arzak, Pedro Subijana and Martin Berasategui.

Subijana said the gang broke into his three-star restaurant in the Basque Country Akelarre north six weeks ago, during the strong field and tear. "They had all the equipment and a lot of experience," he told the news agency EFE. "I'm surprised they took them as I do not hold much hope."

Police said the burglars, Eastern European origin, alarms and disabled people through walls, doors or windows. Cars were recruited through false documents or purchased under false names.

Arzak said after his restaurant was broken in July, the band had taken only a small amount of money. "About 70% to 80% of people pay by credit card, so we have a lot of money," he said. But the robbers were reported to have taken a large number of targets while Akelarre Berasategui restaurant was also in cash. At least four other lesser-known restaurants in the Basque region had also been burgled.
